Why do people get stressed at work?

Why do some people get stressed at work while others remain calm by doing the same job? Does it have to do with the level of self-confidence or experience? Is this stress the result of fear to fail, when such people feel a great (personal/internal) responsibility for doing the task in the proper way? Don't others ("calm" people) then feel responsibility in the the same way/level as the "stressed" people? Or is it simply in the character, to worry for fulfilling any task properly, even though they might understand that there's nothing to worry about?

Why is homosexuality popular?

Why would a guy be expected to be gay if he doesn't have a girl friend, but very few would expect a girl to be lesbian if she doesn't have a boy friend? Why would people think quicker of male than female homosexuality? Why do people talk about gays more than lesbians? Is it so normal for girls to be depicted as lesbian because of their "female" nature (when girls holding hands will be quicker considered as just friends rather than partners)? Why would people rather believe that a single guy is gay than just unlucky with finding a girl friend? Why has male homosexuality become so widely spread, even in societies that originally banned (or still ban) it legally (at least officially)?

Why is it (not) easy for people to decide what they want in life?

Why can some people steadily reach their goals in life, one after another, as if they were born with these goals (like a train moving confidently on the rail track), while others "float" trying to understand what they want (like a boat on a lake)? Why do some people know what they want to be/have in life and others don't? Does it by any chance depend on the upbrining? education (knowledge)? social environment? character?
Which one is better to be - "the train" (going on the rails firmly but with a risk of running off the track in case of a single error) or "the boat" (enjoying the flow but risking to fail in reaching the shore)? Should we feel sorry for the former or the latter?
Generally, do people have to know what they want to reach (have/be) in life?

Why do (not) people marry?

Why do some people marry and some remain single for a long time? When the latter say "afraid of losing their freedom", what do they mean by "freedom"? or do they fear that the relationship in marriage will somehow be worse than just dating/cohabiting? why are they not afraid of staying alone (though still dating from time to time) till their last day? or are they (but still cannot make the right step because of the fear of hearing "No")? Or do they think that living alone is better than having a partner, even when most people in the world prefer to have a partner? (as proved in "Why do people need a partner?")(being afraid of losing their beloved one one day who has been the sense of their life). Or, after all, is it something about them makes other people not want to marry them (too self-centered, not trustworthy, too dominant or too weak)?

Why do people have different "happiness"?

If happiness is something internally normal (typical) for humans, why is it filled with different meaning for and achieved differently by different people? Why are some people happy because they are in strong health, others because they have a beloved one beside them, for still others because they love how they are spending their life in general? Is happiness something that is related only to our inner world ("be happy with oneself") or is something in the outside circumstances (money, love, sense of belonging, etc)? When people say they are happy, are they happy with what they have or with what they are? Does the feeling of happiness depend anyhow on the people's upbrining, education, world outlook, status in the society? ("the less you know, the better you sleep",i.e.happier?)

Why do people behave like this on board a plane?

Why do people carry big and heavy suitcases on board with them if they cannot lift these by themselves (or even carry sometimes) and ask the cabin crew to put it in the overhead stowage (not even "help" but "do" it)?
Why do people - having a headset on - shout when talking to cabin crew? (who is basically in the headset and cannot hear - the cabin crew or the passenger?)
Why do people need to stop a passing-by cabin crew and request something if they see that the cabin crew is walking pretty quickly, almost rushing, to get something for the service process?
Why do people think that if they have bought a ticket for the flight, they can behave as gods, believing that the price of the ticket also included the whole aircraft, pilots, cabin crew, etc.?
Why do people complaint that nobody has attended to their call bell for "ages" if they see that all the cabin crew are busy in the cabin?
Why do people close the windows in the toilets at the altitude of 12km, whether it is a day or night?
Why do people travelling with infants expect the airline to have litres of milk, baby meals or even diapers, as if there were a shop on board?
Why do people stand up and grab their luggage to go when the aircraft has hardly touched the ground?
etc. etc. etc

Why do (not) people believe in extraterrestrial life?

Why do some people like to talk about UFOs, giving vivid examples of their visits to the Earth, while other people donot believe that somebody "out there" might be interested in the human civilization? Was the Life on the Earth brought from far away in space by Somebody/Something or did it evolve in the normal course of time, without any interference from outside? Do "aliens" really visit our planet (and allegedly abduct people for experiments) or is it only the people's sick imagination? Why are aliens always pictured with humanlike features (with legs & hands, eyes, etc) and not something that is really unique and cannot be compared to anything on the Earth? If the "truth is out there", when will people be able to discover it?

Why do people believe in superstitions?

Why do people believe in things that are basically irrational, not even based on any experience or reason? Why would two persons shaking hands across the gate bring on themselves ill luck? Why will the bride cry all her married life if it rains on the wedding? Why will you have good luck through the year if you find money and keep? Why will two persons quarrel if they, while walking, divide so as to pass an obstruction one on one side and one on the other? Why would the nose itching foretell company: If on the right side, it means a man; if on the left, a woman? etc, etc, etc.

Why do people fear?

Why are some people afraid of flying? using a lift? being in closed or open/crowded space, fast driving, hospitals, spiders, etc, etc, etc, even if they have not had any negative experience before? Why don't other people fear the same things? What makes our mind resist this and forces us to experience such a negative feeeling?

Why do people think about the End of the World?

What makes people invent stories (or truly believe in already existing ones) about the end of the world? Why should an asteroid fall down on the Earth, or the continents be flooded, or the sun burn the Earth, or the aliens conquer us? Are humans able to prevent it anyhow, if it is doomed to happen? Is there a way to get prepared for the "end", apart from talking about it all the time?

Why do people drink?

What do people find in drinking? Is it a chance to forget about their depressing reality? To feel better and relaxed? To get loose and do things that they wouldn't do otherwise? What limits them to do these things when they donot drink? Is it the rules and norms in the society that heavily drinking people by-pass (when other people would say, "S/He was drunk, didn't realize what s/he was doing" - which can be deemed as an automatic forgiveness)? Wouldn't it be then an instance of avoiding responsibility for their actions, when they can do whatever they want but which won't be condemned? Why would they drink so much so that they won't be able to remember the previous night but still will call it "fun"?

Why do people hate cockroaches?

Out of all possible insects on the Earth, why do people hate cockroaches so much? Why are people constantly at war with them, even if there might be other similar creatures living in their houses? More than that, why are people afraid of them? What is the reason of this fear, which seems to be almost "inherited" or "internal", a phobia - these insects' survival ability, or their "intellect", or their ability to transport microbes, or simply because they are ugly? What makes people think that the cockroach is the embodiment of evil?

Why do people celebrate Valentine's Day?

Why do people wait for one day in a year to tell somebody "I love you"? Shouldn't they do it everyday, or do they need somebody (in the form of a specific day in the calendar) to push them to act? Why do they need to accummulate all their feelings and express it only on this particular day? Do other calendar days mean nothing, feelingwise? Shouldn't their partner's each day be filled with and coloured by the supreme human feeling called "love"? If they celebrate so intensely on the 14.02, will the 15th be "coming back to reality": doubts, lame excuses, deceits, broken plates, etc, etc, etc?

Why do people lie?

Why do people sometimes prefer to hide the truth and say something which is not quite real, clearly realizing and admitting that it is a wrong-doing? Why do they try to conceal anything? Do they try to make this world (and themselves in particular) look a little bit better and more perfect even if everybody knows (or will know at a certain point) that it's not true? Is it a way to protect themselves? or simply to feel better about themselves?
Do people lie more for the sake of others or for their own sake?
Is it possible to lie without knowing that one is doing it?
Is it possible to lie to oneself?

Why are best chefs men?

Why do we imagine a man-chef as soon as we think of a restaurant kitchen? Why don't we think of the woman who has been responsible for cooking since the first days of the humankind? Is it because of this exact reason - cooking everyday - that women loose some "cooking passion", some "cooking touch" that best men-chefs have?
Aren't women considered to be more "creative" by nature, with vidid imagination, which is so important in the kitchen?
Or is it simply because it's a tough job to be a chef - spending a long day on your feet, among hot pots & pans, pressure & stress, and physically not many women can handle it? (though we can still see a lot of women working at factories or other places doing originally a man's work?
Or are women just tired of cooking at home to go to cook somewhere else?
And who will be cooking at home where there is a man-chef in the family: the wife or the husband?

Why do (not) we believe in God?

One wise man once said, "We are all believers: some believe in existence of God, some believe in its non-existence".

Why do we tend to use some supernatural/divine entity or Supreme Being to explain things that we donot understand and can't explain by ourselves? Why do we need this entity to help us live by drawing power from it? Why can we find solitude and peace when we go to a place of worship? Why do we believe that this Supreme being is fair and caring and will give us what we ask in our prayers?

Why, inpsite of such a great number of believers, are there non-believers, people who donot use any supernatural entity to explain things even when they don't understand something? Where from did they get this knowledge of non-existence of this supreme being and what makes them think there is no such a being? How do they explain the "massive believeness" of other people then? What do they believe in?

Do we really need to believe in anything?

Why to go personal? (a note)

My dear readers,
I have created this blog not to discuss my personality or my "problems". I donot write here for you to act as my pshycotherapists. I don't want you to go personal. What I would like to have is a normal discusssion of ideas, opinions. IN GENERAL. And I would appreciate if you could follow it. If you still would like to discuss something personal, you can always write an email to me. Thank you.

Why do people need a partner?

Why do we think that it is impossible to be single and be happy? Why do we necesserily need a person to live with to be happy? Let's avoid talking about "preservance of species", etc. as we have such a big excess of population on the planet already that it can no longer hold it. And don't tell me that "it is natural, just look at the nature: animals always have another animal to live with." The problem is that though, biologically, we are Animals, it is our mind that differentiates and separates us from any other species. It is our brain that makes us humans (or un-humans in certain cases), giving us the control over everything and the possibility of Choice.

We all have people around us that we are fond of/comfortable with/happy to be with: our relatives, our friends, our co-workers (in the worst case). They bring positive emotions into our lives, and make these lives brighter. But why do we need a separate person who will (or might) bring even more "light" and bigger emotions? Why can't it be a very close friend who you share much with (feelings, outlook, interests, etc)?

Or is our "animal instinct" so strong (stronger that the mind) that we just can't do without a "partner" who is just a person to have sex with (apart from other common/shared things), as simple as that?

Why do we ask questions?

Why do we really ask questions? The obvious answer might be, "to know, to acquire some new knowledge/information about this world and our life". But do we really need this knowledge? Would it make you happier? or wiser? or more open-minded? or any other "more" or "-er"? If the answer is positive, then do you think all the people in this world ask questions, like you do? what if some don't? What if they don't even know that they can ask questions? or,simpler, they donot need this knowledge for their lives - "The less you know, the better you sleep". Does it make their lives any worse than yours? If yes, then why don't they want to change it? if no, then why do you still ask questions?

Why to begin?

I have always had a lot of questions: why is it like this and not another way? is it because of ... or ...? I can't say I could always find answers to these questions; in most cases, these questions led to other questions, and I went deeper and deeper, and in the end just got lost.

Seeing things in one light or from one point of view might really lead to an end, end of understanding. But when you have somebody else to share your thoughts with, this might actually help to see whatever you want to see in a different light, different prospective, sort of making a normal (1D) picture a 3D picture.

This is the reason I decided to start this blog (or lets call it "the thought-place"): trying to find people who ask the same questions, and who would like to share their thoughts and ideas to find the answers to these questions. I hope something can come out of it, and this "thought place" will find its regular visitors (readers or, preferably, participants). Let's give it a try :) so,

Welcome to My Why Life!

* * * * * * * * NOTE* * * * * * * * *
Due to our differences in culture/upbringing/world outlook/religion/etc/etc/etc, some of the issues that could be discussed here might seem offensive/insulting/rude/etc for somebody. Therefore, I would like to appologize beforehand for this; this is by no means my intention (or - I hope - the intention of the people who might be sharing their thoughts in this blog).
